High Current

Advancing electrical performance through state-of-the-art high-current testing solutions and expertise.

Enhancing Electrical Performance
through High-Current Testing

At Venturetronics, our High-Current Testing facility is dedicated to ensuring electrical equipment’s optimal performance and reliability under high-current conditions. With specialized setups tailored for testing low-voltage and high-current applications, we offer comprehensive testing solutions to assess the thermal qualification and performance of various electrical components. From busbars and switchgear to cables and circuit breakers, our testing capabilities extend to evaluating current-carrying components to meet industry standards.

Low-Voltage and High-Current Testing

Venturetronics Labs boasts an in-house setup specifically designed for high-current testing of electrical equipment. This setup covers a wide range of components, including busbars, switchgear, circuit breakers, and cables. Our advanced configuration allows devices to be tested at currents as high as 6 kArms. This setup is instrumental in conducting thermal qualification tests of electrical equipment under high-current conditions.

General Specifications

  • Output Frequency: 50/60 Hz
  • Maximum Current: 6,000 Arms continuous
  • Input Voltage: 440 Vrms phase-to-phase at 50/60 Hz

Thermal Testing

Our High-Current Lab at Venturetronics specializes in ensuring that current-carrying components meet stringent industry standards. We offer independent, third-party evaluations of thermal performance and conduct long-term aging tests to simulate lifetime performance. Assessments include heat run, current cycle, and short-circuit testing at high-current levels and low voltages. The laboratory focuses on evaluating and analyzing high-current components such as connectors, fuses, energy meters, storage batteries, and machine insulation testing of stator bars and coils.

We possess the capability to perform extensive thermal testing of electrical equipment at their rated current until a steady state is reached, utilizing state-of-the-art current and temperature logging systems such as NI-PxIe-1071 equipped with calibrated thermocouples. Detailed reports are generated, covering steady-state graphs and thermal margins of different devices.

General Specifications

  • Current: Up to 6,000 Arms continuous
  • Temperature Range: 0 °C to 150 °C
  • Thermocouples: K-type
  • Sensors Count: 64
